The Royal Bangkok Sports Club ((タイ語:ราชกรีฑาสโมสร) ''Ratcha Greetaa Samosorn'') is an exclusive sports complex and the first golf course of Thailand,〔William Warren, Celebrating 100 Years The Royal Bangkok Sports Club, Mark Standen Publishing Co., Ltd., 2544〕 located in Pathum Wan, Bangkok. There are two types of membership here, descended member and paid member. However, the number of members is limited at 12,500 accounts〔RBSC Magazine, Vol.7 No.73 July 2007, p. 35〕 which also enable their spouse and children. By total area of 88.90 acres in the Bangkok downtown, this land worth have been estimated to more than 100 billion baht. == History == In 1890, Prince Devawongse Varopakarn, the foreign minister, was requested by Mr. Franklin Hurst, Englishman, to establish a race track and sports field. In 1892, Mr. Hurst was given a fifteen-year lease on ''Toong Sra Pratoom'' (ทุ่งสระปทุม) by the king and the club was formed as ''The Gymkhana Club'' (สโมสรยิมคานา) and ''Race Course Society'' (สมาคมแข่งม้า). In 1901, King Chulalongkorn established the ''Royal Bangkok Sports Club'' and took over the gymkhana club.
